Profile The library is available to the public for research in film and moving images. The Regional Video Library is one of the most important services offered by the L'Aquila Film Institute particularly for the Abruzzo Region. The library is open all year round and is available to all members of the public who are interested in audiovisuals, multimedia and film appreciation. The archives of the Regional Video Library includes a collection of material which is constantly updated and has been gathered by "Lanterna Magica" over more than twenty years. The collection continues to grow over the years by adding an ever increasing range of material; books, periodicals, journals, films, study resources, documentation related to film, multi-media, communication, arts administration and finance, visual arts and more specifically the art and technique behind moving images. Many extremely rare titles can be found in the collection, including titles from outside Italy, making it easy to locate material which is normally difficult to find. The Video Library has a reading room which is also furnished with television monitors and headphones to enable users to view the material in the library. The library has also created a database which can be consulted on internet at the «Lanterna Magica» website to facilitate research of its archives and other material. The library has numerous members and does a turnover of approximately 100,000 loans per year. |
