The Abruzzo Film Commission was established by Gabriele Lucci.
It is supported by the L'Aquila Film Institute and the International Academy of Image Arts and Sciences.

It received official recognition in December 2001 by the local government. The local theatrical organisations A.T.A.M., T.S.A, and L'Uovo have also lent their support.

The Abruzzo Film Commission is a member of the national Italian Film Commission and aims to promote film and audiovisual production in the Abruzzo Region. Producing moving images has always meant encountering a series of special circumstances related to shooting film.

The Abruzzo Film Commission ensures a constant support system for the film and entertainment industry, local organisations, service companies, and industry professionals.

It provides assistance to production companies that choose the Abruzzo Region as a film set or location.
